My name is Ian Robertson, and I live in White Rock/Surrey in British Columbia on the Canada/USA border. We came to live here after 22 years in Texas and spells in France, Nederland, Germany and the United Kingdom. Work has taken me all over the world except for three regions The Arctic, The Antarctic and Sub-Saharan Africa.
Three years ago, I told my wife that I was going for a drive from our home which was then on Vancouver Island. Where to? To Bucket List destination #1 of course – The Arctic. It was the most beautiful and fascinating land journey I had ever undertaken, and you can see details of that journey at www.beyondtheyukon.com
The plan was to undertake a longer journey the following year, 2024, and drive from home here on the West Coast of Canada to St. John's Newfoundland on the East Coast; a round trip of 8,000 miles and twice as long as my trip to The Arctic. But a series of medical issues covering orthopedic surgery, melanoma surgery and 12 months of immunology and open heart surgery back in January all contrived to delay this trip. The surgeries have healed, the cancer appears to be in remission and my heart is pumping like a Savery Steam Pump; so, it’s time to delay no more and set off on my journey. I will leave home on the 16th of July, the day after my last cardiac rehab session.

I will endeavour to write a Daily Blog as I go, but please forgive my occasional lapse if I am too tired after some of the longer sections
I will be shooting both stills and video with my trusty Nikon Z7ii mirrorless camera. In addition, my beloved Subie Outback has a 4k dash cam and a 2k rear camera. I may be able to keep the photos up to date, depending on how many shots I have taken taht day, but the videos will be processed and edited using Adobe Premiere Pro, so they will definitely come later.
